Nick Melrose serves as the Financial Analyst for Bucksbaum Retail Properties, where he is responsible for the company’s development, acquisition, and operational underwriting and related research and is involved throughout the phases of the development process.
In addition to his position at BRP, he is also a Founding Partner at Zaptones, a website and mobile application company that was initially funded by a billionaire angel investor. Prior to BRP, Nick worked for HUBB NYC Properties, an institutionally backed real estate investment fund that direct invests in retail, multifamily, and mixed-use properties within Manhattan. Nick was responsible for underwriting and due diligence regarding investments ranging from $1M-$100M in deal size, souring new acquisition opportunities, and continuously tracking market activity. Additionally, Nick was a Development Analyst for The JBG Companies, a private equity real estate firm that exclusively develops large urban infill, transit oriented projects. Prior to his full-time experience, Nick held internships with Dome Equities, Principal Financial Group, Browman Development Company, and Barker Apartments.
Nick received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Finance and a Minor in Economics from the Tippie College of Business of the University of Iowa, where he graduated in the top 3% of his class with Magna Cum Laude honors through achieving a 3.91 cumulative, 4.11 finance, and 4.17 economics GPA. Nick also served as President of the Real Estate Club for three consecutive years.
